About Trusty Handyman

Hi, I’m John, the owner of Trusty Handyman.

I’ve lived in Flackwell Heath for over 20 years with my family, including our two children, two cats and very friendly dog! Being part of the local community for so long means a lot to me, and most of my work is carried out for local homeowners across High Wycombe and the surrounding areas.

Being a handyman is actually my second career. Before starting the business, I spent over 30 years working as a pensions actuary, advising companies and trustees on their defined benefit pension schemes. That background taught me the importance of accuracy, reliability, attention to detail and doing things properly — qualities that I now bring to every job I carry out for homeowners in High Wycombe and the surrounding areas.

After many years in an office-based profession, I decided to move into practical hands-on work, something I had always genuinely enjoyed. I’ve always liked fixing things, improving homes and solving practical problems, and I found a great deal of satisfaction in helping people with the kinds of repairs and maintenance jobs that often get overlooked.

I provide a wide variety of handyman and property maintenance services, including plumbing repairs, shower repairs, bathroom repairs, minor electrical work, tiling repairs, silicone resealing, shelving and wall mounting, curtain and blind fitting, door repairs and property maintenance, flat pack assembly and TV wall mounting. Many customers contact me because they have several jobs that need doing, and my range of skills often means I can complete them all during the same visit.

One thing I’ve learned over the years — in both careers — is that people value reliability and trust. Turning up when promised, communicating clearly, being respectful in somebody’s home and taking pride in doing careful work are all things I take seriously.

I particularly enjoy the problem-solving side of handyman work. Many jobs are not straightforward, and I like finding practical, long-lasting solutions rather than rushing through work as quickly as possible. I believe small details matter, whether it’s getting a neat finish, making sure fittings are secure, or taking the time to do a repair properly.

I also understand how difficult it can be to find somebody willing to take on smaller jobs, so I’m always happy to help with repairs and maintenance work that larger companies may not be interested in.

Trusty Handyman is fully insured and DBS checked for added peace of mind.

Much of my work comes from repeat customers and recommendations, which means a great deal to me and reflects the importance I place on trust, workmanship and customer service.

If you need help with repairs, installations or home maintenance, please contact me — I’m always happy to discuss a job and see if I can help.
